USAID’s READ II Education Recovery Activity includes a key component that supports the training of Girls Club leaders and school administrators. Violence against women and girls increased dramatically during the two-year conflict.

Originally designed as an early grade reading program, USAID’s READ II Education Recovery Activity pivoted to provide education in conflict services to students, educators and families in three regions. It demonstrated how education can be a life sustaining tool in conflict affected communities by supporting about 500,000 children to return to learning and continue their education.

READ II Education Recovery Activity is implemented by Creative Associates International and World Vision. The opinions expressed in this video are of the speakers and do not necessarily reflect the position of the U.S. government or its implementing organizations.
