Honduras is experiencing an alarming crisis of violence, which causes a disruption in families and pushes youth to engage in risky behavior and migrate irregularly. USAID’s Sembrando Esperanza uses a family counseling model with 1,300 vulnerable families in some of the toughest neighborhoods to build resilience.
USAID Semeando Esperança dispatches teams of family counselors who are professionals in psychology, social work and other fields. They are supported by local leaders and organizations dedicated to improving their communities.
During seven months of intervention, the counselors inspire families to rediscover their strengths, their customs and all those elements that bind them together.
