The Strengthening Education Systems for Improved Learning program improved the equity and quality of measurable learning outcomes for girls and boys in Uganda at the lower primary school level.
The program was funded by the U.K. Department for International Development and implemented by Cambridge Education, with Creative Associates International and two local partners STIR Education and TWAWESA.
The Strengthening Education Systems for Improved Learning program adopted a systems approach in order to contribute to creating a better motivated and skilled teaching workforce, better leadership and management at the district and school levels, improved accountability and support for schools and improved planning and policy implementation informed by data and evidence.
Within this broader systems approach the program supported the Ministry of Education and Sports to establish a Ministerial Delivery Unit, and provided advice and support to this unit to address program priorities.
