Mohamad Hamish currently serves as the Chief of Party for the State Department Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs-funded FURAT III program. In this role, he leads efforts to collaborate with Local Governance Partners to deliver essential services, stabilize targeted regions, enhance living conditions and facilitate the safe return of residents and internally displaced persons to their homes. His work is crucial in fostering stability and resilience in conflict-affected communities.
With over nine years of experience at Creative Associates International, Mohamad has been a driving force in Syria-focused development projects. His leadership was instrumental in the success of the FURAT I and II programs, where he significantly contributed to the strengthening of local governance and civil society in the region. His previous work with the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, particularly under the Building Legitimacy of Local Councils project in northwest Syria, further solidified his expertise in planning, implementing and monitoring stabilization and governance programs.
A native Arabic speaker, Mohamad is also proficient in English and French. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Aleppo and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development from the University of Sussex. His unwavering commitment to improving governance and civil society in Syria continues to guide his work and leadership in the FURAT III program and beyond.
