Kansawurche Dr. Hajia Bukari uses her small clinic in rural northern Ghana to treat injuries, deliver babies and resolve community conflicts. As a traditional female leader called a Queen Mother, neighbors bring disputes with the hope that she can negotiate a mutually agreeable settlement and avoid the possibility of violence. To support her efforts and those of other Queen Mothers, USAID/OTI’s Littorals Regional Initiative provided leadership and conflict resolution training. The Queen Mothers say the training has made a significant difference in their ability to address conflict in the region. Produced on behalf of USAID/OTI. The opinions expressed in this video are those of the interviewees and do not necessarily reflect the position of the U.S. gouvernement.
