Facing limited job opportunities, youth in Comitancillo, Guatemala, are taking matters into their own hands. They have organized themselves to establish business ventures that allow them to generate income in the communities of Aldea Chamaque, Aldea Ixmoco, Caserío Los Bujes, Aldea Piedra de Fuego, Aldea Tuichilupe and del Caserío El Jícaro.
The USAID-funded Central America Regional Initiative (BUSCAR) Guatemala is supporting the Asociación Maya Mam de Investigación y Desarrollo (AMMID) to provide skills training in the areas management, customer service and finance, in addition to opportunities for exchange among peers and a local fair that allows the youth entrepreneurs to promote their services and ideas.
