Everyone knows Dora Torwiseh.

From a small village in Ghana’s Northern Region, her influence now extends to a network of 80,000 women across dozens of village cooperatives. Dora is the link between these women — who make their living collecting and selling shea nuts — and the international market’s demand for high-quality shea butter. Using her own experience with shea, plus her business acumen and passion for development, Dora has built the Nuts for Growth factory from the ground up.

Now with a 300 ton-per-day capacity, the factory contributes to better economic outcomes for women in rural villages. With support from the Comercio de USAID en África Occidental & Centro de inversión, Dora has been able to expand her reach and her production, creating opportunities and economic growth in the Northern Region.
