ABEL I IQC – ABEL I/MALAWI: ASSESSMENT OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC FACTORS AFFECTING GIRLS` EDUCATION PERSISTENCE AND FEMALE EMPLOYMENT IN THE EDUCATION SECTOR

Creative’s team of experts evaluated policy and institutional constraints to female participation and persistence in primary and secondary schools and employment in the education sector, taking into account urban and rural differences. Special emphasis was placed on examining central policies--versus district-level practices--that affect the availability of female teachers and other education personnel in rural areas. Creative recommended strategies for addressing the constraints most amenable to change.
