BEPS/ SOUTH AFRICA: SUPPORTING EQUITY IN EDUCATION

The USAID-funded Basic Education Policy Support Activity (BEPS) team designed and trained teacher trainers on how to create more inclusive, gender-equitable, child-centered classrooms. BEPS/SOMALIA: EDUCATION SECTOR ASSESSMENT

As part of supporting Somalia’s stability and further development, Creative conducted a comprehensive assessment of all aspects of the education system--from primary to tertiary levels. It highlighted areas where USAID assistance could make an impact, including expanding non-formal education to children in sparsely populated areas and children deprived of education during conflict; assisting more females become teachers, strengthening community education committees and enhancing the planning and management capacity of educational leaders. ...
 

BEPS/ SIERRA LEONE: FINAL EVALUATION OF THE USAID OFFICE OF TRANSITION INITIATIVES PROGRAM

Creative conducted an assessment of USAID’s Office of Transition Initiatives' peacebuilding programs, including the Youth Reintegration Training and Education for Peace Program and Diamond Management Program, which were designed improve the capacity of local communities to peacefully move from war to peace. Extensive research and in-country interviews found they significantly impacted the peace process, such as in the reintegration of ex-combatants into communities. While areas needed improvement, the program was considered a model for other war-affected communities....
 

BEPS/ BURUNDI, DRC AND LIBERIA: OTI COMMUNITY REINTEGRATION

Creative conducted extensive evaluations of USAID’s Office of Transition Initiatives’ Community-focused Reintegration (CFR) programs in Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Liberia, which were modeled on a similar program in Sierra Leone. The final report, “Community-focused Reintegration,” describes the programs, lessons learned and best practices. It affirmed the importance of reintegrating ex-combatants and having a safe environment for reuniting communities emerging from conflict. BEPS/ MOROCCO: NATIONAL EDUCATION ACCOUNTS (NEA)

The National Education Accounts (NEA) is a tool for providing analytical information about a country’s available educational resources, particularly those used to meet policy objectives. Developed by Creative, NEA was first tested in Morocco. It proved useful for planning and evaluating education reforms and provided the government with a clear and exhaustive vision of the flow of education funds that previously did not exist.
