La Presita 1 was a planned community and a destination for families in El Salvador’s city of San Miguel. Unfortunately, it was not immune to the challenges facing most of El Salvador. Many residents moved out and those who stayed faced a stigma by others living in nearby neighborhoods. With the support of USAID’s Office of Transition Initiatives, a coalition of community organizations envisioned a renewed neighborhood and began to reclaim areas and reinvigorate the area.
La Presita 1 is a “phoenix” story.
