In Maiduguri, girls have few ways to build self esteem in safe spaces. But a renewed emphasis on girls’ athletics is changing that. A Girls for Peace initiative, sponsored by USAID’s Nigeria Lake Chad Basin program, donated equipment and facilitated a sports tournament for young women in three schools in Maiduguri.
